DESCRIPTION:\nThe Southwest Florida Healthcare Coalition will present Activ
 ation 101 with breakout sessions for the 9 separate counties for Q&amp\;A 
 between members and EOC and ESF-8 staff.\nActivation 101 is designed to in
 form members about the key aspects of contacting ESF-8 (Emergency Support 
 Function #8) and the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during a disaster.
  \nWho to Contact:\n\n 	Emergency Support Function #8 (ESF-8): ESF-8 coor
 dinates public health and medical services during a disaster. This include
 s healthcare providers\, public health agencies\, and medical suppliers.\n
  	Emergency Operations Center (EOC): The EOC is a centralized command and 
 control facility responsible for carrying out emergency management and ens
 uring continuity of operations during a disaster.\n\nWhat to Contact About
 :\n\n 	Health and Medical Emergencies: Issues related to medical care\, pu
 blic health\, and safety\, including outbreaks of disease\, mass casualty 
 incidents\, and the need for medical supplies or personnel.\n 	Resource Re
 quests: Needs for additional resources such as medical equipment\, pharmac
 euticals\, or specialized medical personnel.\n 	Status Updates: Providing 
 situational updates on public health\, medical facility status\, and patie
 nt care capacities.\n\nWhen to Contact:\n\n 	Immediate Threats: As soon as
  a disaster poses a threat to public health or medical services.\n 	Resour
 ce Needs: When existing resources are insufficient to meet the demands of 
 the disaster.\n 	Routine Updates: Regularly scheduled intervals as determi
 ned by the EOC or ESF-8 protocols\, to provide updates and request further
  assistance as needed.\n\nWhy to Contact:\n\n 	Coordination: To ensure a c
 oordinated response between various agencies and organizations involved in
  disaster response.\n 	Resource Allocation: To access and allocate necessa
 ry resources effectively and efficiently.\n 	Public Safety: To protect pub
 lic health and safety by ensuring medical services and public health respo
 nses are appropriately managed and supported.\n 	\n\nEffective communicati
 on with ESF-8 and the EOC ensures a streamlined and coordinated response t
 o disasters\, ultimately aiding in the protection and recovery of affected
  populations.
