The New York City Pediatric Disaster Coalition (PDC) is once again hosting a new webinar – “Coaching the Champions for Pediatric Readiness”.

The webinar will feature the following topics and distinguished speakers (speaker bios are attached):

  • The National Peds Ready Program and Survey (for EDs and EMS), Matthew Harris, MD

Dr. Matthew Harris is a Pediatric Emergency Medicine and EMS Physician with Northwell Health (New Hyde Park, NY). Dr. Harris is triple-board certified in General Pediatrics, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, and EMS/Disaster Medicine. Involved in EMS since 1998, Dr. Harris has volunteered as an EMT, paramedic, and EMS physician. He serves as the medical director for the Cohen Children’s Medical Center Pediatric Critical Care Transport team and as Associate Medical Director for the Northwell Center for Emergency Medical Services. He sits on the New York State EMS for Children Advisory Committee, and has held key leadership positions in the American Academy of Pediatrics and National Association of EMS Physicians. His key foci of interest is in prehospital and interfacility transport of critically ill or injured children, and pediatric readiness.

  • The Always Ready for Children (ARC) program, Amy Eisenhauer

Amy brings more than 25 years of EMS experience to the New York State Department of Health Bureau of EMS and Trauma Systems having served in multiple operational, supervisory, managerial, and executive roles in a variety of clinical and educational settings within EMS. She currently serves as the EMS for Children Program Manager for the New York State EMSC Partnership and as the EMS Liaison to the Coverdell Stroke Program. Amy has authored articles in several EMS trade journals and contributed to first responder texts on mental health and wellness for EMS providers. She is a nationally recognized speaker and has made presentations at various EMS and public safety conferences.

  • The role of the ED and EMS Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator (PECC), Mark X. Cicero, MD

Dr. Mark Cicero is triple boarded in pediatrics, pediatric emergency medicine, and emergency medical services (EMS). He is an EMS physician, an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine (PEM) at Yale University School of Medicine, and Attending Physician at Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital. Mark has served as the chair of the pediatrics committee of the National Association of EMS Physicians, as is a member of the National Biodefense Science Board, and is currently a member of the National Advisory Committee on Children and Disasters.
