SUMMARY:Initial Response to Mass-Casualty Incidents
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nMass-Casualty Incident (MCI) drills usually focus on vest
s and tarps\, assignments and responsibilities but always seem to miss the
most important part of an MCI: The first-in unit. This presentation will
prepare you to collect important information when arriving on-scene\, tran
smit a good radio report and begin to set up casualty collection and deplo
y a triage team. For decades\, the EMS community has tried to learn from M
CI incidents but continue to push outdated concepts that have never worked
\, like tarps and dismissing walking wounded. These concepts have new\, si
mple solutions that can be deployed by a first in-engine\, first-arriving
ambulance and even a volunteer arriving in their POV. All you need is your
eyes\, a radio and know what to look for.\n\n\n\nPanel of Experts\n\n\n\n
