 outh Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify\, understand and 
 respond tosigns of mental health and substance use challenges among adoles
 cents ages 12-18.Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart
  attack\, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing a 
 mental health or substance use-related crisis. In the Mental Health First 
 Aid course\, you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health an
 d addiction concerns\, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis a
 nd non-crisis situations\, and where to turn for help.\nTopics Covered\n\n
  	Depression and mood disorders\n 	Anxiety disorders\n 	Trauma\n 	Psychosi
 s\n 	Substance Use disorders\n\nMental Health First Aid teaches about rec
 overy and resiliency – the belief that individuals experiencing these
  challenges can and do get better\, and use their strengths to stay well.\
 n The Mental Health First Aid Action Plan\n\n 	Assess for risk of suicide
  or harm\n 	Listen nonjudgmentally\n 	Give reassurance and Information\n 	
 Encourage appropriate professional help\n 	Encourage self-help and other s
 upport strategies\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInterventions Learned\nWhen you take a cour
 se\, you learn how to apply the Mental Health First Aid action plan in a v
 ariety of situations\, including when someone is experiencing:\n\n 	Panic
